We have already managed to acquaint you with a stylish ultra-thin tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, but the new family Tab S includes a larger model Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, which we discuss in this review. In terms of functionality and hardware for both models are almost identical, but the 10.5-inch screen provides a much higher comfort content consumption than its 8.4-inch brother in the lineup.

Design, materials
The design of Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is completely analogous to registration younger 8,4- inch model with the exception of the features associated with the difference in size of the two devices. The tablet is available in the same “dazzling white” (Dazzling White) and “titanium-bronze” (Titanium Bronze) versions of color choices. The first that catches your eye while exploring the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 – unusual for Android-based models of the proportion of the body, which tend rather to a square than a rectangle. No, the South Korean developers did not use the matrix with an aspect ratio of 4: 3, but they did edging along the short sides of the screen as thin as possible. This solution will be to cheer those who do not like too “stretched” in the portrait orientation of the body typical Android-plates. A direct comparison shows that the proportion of the hero is really similar to the review of apple tablet with an aspect ratio of 4: 3, since both the length and width of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 by about 7 mm more than the iPad. But the thickness and weight of this pair of plates are almost identical, the difference in the 0.9 millimeter and gram unit can be felt only with a ruler and scale. The competition size could announce a tie (Apple are smaller but thicker), if not for the fact that Samsung has managed to put in an identical body size larger screen (10.5 inches vs. 9.7 inches).
The front panel of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is covered by a protective glass Gorilla Glass. As we have said, width of the line along the short sides is minimal and is only 8 mm. Therefore, when you hold the tablet in landscape position you will have to choose more carefully the position of hands in order to avoid false taps on the screen.
Side face of the body decorated with silver trim, which at first glance looks like a metal. In fact, this is the usual plastic, painted under the metal. The rear panel of the tablet is made of plastic with a firm texture point, the nature of which is suggestive of a band-aid. The material turned out really high-quality and attractive. As you can see, in the decoration of Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is used exclusively plastic, whereas its main competitor Apple iPad Air boasts “cast” aluminum base housing. Given the smaller size, the proportion of apple tablet is higher, but it is quite possible to be forgiven for really premium brushed aluminum. And no matter how good softtach perforated plastic from Samsung, the metal has to give way.
Controls, connectors
At the top of the edging Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, you can find the manufacturer’s logo, the front 2.1 megapixel camera and a light sensor on the bottom – the control unit. Traditionally for smartphones and tablets from Samsung uses three-button control unit of the hardware Home key and two soft keys and Recent Back. Touch buttons are equipped with adjustable lighting, and hardware integrated fingerprint reader.

In the left corner of the upper bound of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 placed the power button and volume control, but the infrared port is located at the center. On the bottom you can only find in digital microphone, no more elements here. The left side is the tablet contains a combined audio port and one of the two speakers, the right – the second speaker, MicroSD card slot and micro-USB. Note that the case has been so thin that the developers had to provide a small bulge in the output port.

The arrangement of the elements of both models rather thought-out and no special claims caused. The only parameter where the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is clearly forging ahead – Audio arrangement. In terms of acoustics and ease of use a pair of speakers on the opposite faces of the body much better solution than the speakers on the same faces at the Apple iPad Air.
The controls are almost identical – and in the first and in the second case can be unlocked from the front screen panel via the hardware buttons. The presence of two additional touch buttons at the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 due to the requirements of the sandbox Android. Note that the Apple iPad Air has an additional hardware slider switch that allows you to quickly lock the position sensor or turn off the sound. Display Super AMOLED
