Samsung has officially unveiled its new mobile processor that will certainly be the “heart” of the future flagship smartphones, including the Galaxy S7.

64-bit eight-chip Exynos 8 Octa 8890, like its predecessor Exynos 7 Octa 7420 (used in Galaxy S6 / S6 edge / S6 edge + / Note5), is built on 14-nanometer FinFET-process. 8 custom processor cores are based on the architecture ARMv8, in addition, the chip contains the latest LTE-modem Rel.12 Cat.12 / 13 (download speed of up to 600 Mbit / s, the impact – up to 150 Mbit / s).

Samsung promises that the new processor is 30% faster and thus 10% more energy efficient predecessor. Responsible for the graphics accelerator powerful ARM Mali-T880.

The Korean company plans to begin mass production of Exynos Octa 8, 8890 at the end of the year. This means that he will almost certainly be used in the flagship of the first half of 2016 – Samsung Galaxy S7.
