With the hot competition in the lower segment of the smartphone Samsung should offer innovative ideas to win customers. Did it? In part.

design

On5 Pro and On7 Pro in the Galaxy lineup looks virtually identical. You could even say it’s too familiar Samsung design. Telephones are available in black or gold color, they are both the front and back color in the selected color.

Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro and On7 Pro: first look

On the front panel there is a display with a speaker, the front cam and a proximity sensor at the top and navigation buttons below. Physical buttons, only one – Home, flanked by two capacitive keys that are not highlighted

The side of the phone are made of solid aluminum, but painted in glossy paint, which makes them similar to the transparent film on the phone

On the right side is the power button, the left is the volume rocker. At the bottom is the headphone jack and microUSB port.

On the back there is a removable plastic cover decorated with leatherette. It has a rubber texture and does not intend to deceive anyone, not made of metal. But this is not the worst choice of materials.

Under the rear lid is removable battery, dual-slot micro-SIM-card, and microSD slot.

The overall build quality is good due to the metal frame. Both phones are felt much more premium than J2 2016 edition, despite the fact that On5 Pro actually costs less.

Display

Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro and On7 Pro

Galaxy On5 Pro has a 5.0-inch display, while the On7 Pro has a 5.5-inch display. Both offer IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 × 720. The screen quality on both devices can be best described as adequate.

Both displays have turned out quite bright indoors and in the street look a bit blurry. Both displays also have vibrant colors that attempt to mimic the appearance of the display type AMOLED. The result is not very good. The colors are not as saturated, though it looks as good as Galaxy J5 and J7 2016. In general, the price of the picture quality is quite acceptable.

What is not acceptable is the reduction of costs. Samsung has once again refused to oleophobic coating with screens on both models, which makes it difficult to see the contents of the screen, especially outdoors. And there’s no ambient light sensor on any phone. Finally, touch screens are limited to only two multi-touch points. So that they will not track your fingers properly if you touch the screen with three fingers instead of two. Forget about the increase or decrease in the pictures.

camera

Galaxy On5 Pro and On7 Pro have 8 megapixel and 13-megapixel camera on the rear, respectively.

The image quality on On5 Pro below average. There is a lack of detail in the image, the dynamic range of the poor, and the ambient noise is too high when recording video.

But on On7 Pro camera actually looks very good. It surpasses On5 camera in all respects and offers a great “look” for a budget phone.

Both phones record video in 1080p, and nothing more. Video is not very high quality. For example, there are a couple of records.

Verdict

To be honest, it’s hard to find a reason why you should buy the Galaxy On5 Pro and On7 Pro. It’s not the worst of the company’s attempts to introduce budget phones, but they do not have a fingerprint sensor chip to support mobile payment systems as competitors with the same price tag. The strong point would AMOLED-display, but the company and removed it. Leather back and cycling mode S from Samsung – inadequate replacement. The only thing standing in both phones – that they work on Android6.0. But the software for the cameras rather crude. The quality of the filmed material could have been much better. The cameras allow. In general, these phones – pass option. Sense to put a mark on the model of «Pro» did not have any. Most likely, the company will leave Gadgets data only for the Indian market. There is famine in the digital version of the budget. Maybe buy
