The official opening of the annual exhibition Mobile World Congress 2015 held only today, but the main announcements, many companies have already done. In the so-called zero-day MWC 2015 was presented a lot of new products, but the main event was the event of the company Samsung.
As always, the presentation attracted the attention of a huge number of people – in the hall was attended by several thousand journalists and partners of Samsung. Talk about the updates released by the head of Samsung’s JK Shin (JK Shin).
CEO Samsung was fairly brief and without long introductions announced two new companies – smart phones Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
As the name implies, S6 Edge differs from the normal version of the smartphone curved screen. Unlike Galaxy Note Edge, curved screen on both sides, but not so much. This is the first such device in the world – by the way, to bend glass, Samsung has to be heated to a temperature of 800 degrees Celsius. Specifications of both new products are identical except for slightly more capacious battery at S6 Edge (2600 mAh).
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge got a 64-bit 8-core processor Exynos, made on 14-nm technology FinFET (Fin Field Effect Transistor, process with transistors with a vertical shutter). Quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.5 GHz, and another four Cortex-A57 – at a frequency of 2.1 GHz. In an official press release, the processor model was not available, but obviously we are talking about the new Exynos 7420. Samsung argues that, compared with the 20-nm processor in the Galaxy S4, a 14-nm chip demonstrates performance gains of 20%, and energy efficiency – 35%. A special attention to the presentation of paid professionals Samsung cameras that are equipped with the new smart phones. The rear camera has a resolution of 16 megapixel, the maximum aperture of the lens in – ƒ / 1,9, is also present optical image stabilization. The front facing camera 5 MP, but has a larger pixel size than competitive solutions, which, coupled with the diaphragm ƒ / 1,9 produces high-quality self-portraits even in low light conditions – that is on the premises. Helmet supports both new smartphone, it has become more compact at 15%, and pixel density increased by 11% (due to the smaller size of the display in S6 compared to Note).
