Amazon.com (AMZN) announced changes to its Kindle iOS reading app Wednesday that makes it easier for blind and visually impaired users to interact with their Kindle libraries, books and more .
The company says the new accessibility features are available immediately on Kindle for Apple (AAPL) iOS iPhone and iPad devices. Amazon says the features will be available on other platforms in the future. This presumably includes Google’s (GOOG) Android operating system for Kindle Fire tablets.
The new features for blind and visually impaired customers include the ability to read aloud more than 1.8 million titles available in the Kindle Store using Apple’s VoiceOver technology. Users can also navigate within their library or within a book, with consistent title, menu and button names.
