Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first to get an optical fingerprint recognition – Ferra

In the vast Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, has revealed new details about the upcoming flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S8. This time it is reported that the Samsung Galaxy S8 could be the first smartphone in the world, which will be used in optical fingerprint recognition.


Previously, there were reports that Samsung will embed the fingerprint scanner into the display Galaxy S8. The optical scanner when the finger is placed on the glass plate or, in the case with a smartphone, on a glass display. While this technology in smartphones is not used, it is faster and more accurate than ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, already used in smartphones.

According to earlier leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is equipped with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) to work with virtual reality devices. The hardware will be based on 10-nanometer processors Qualcomm Snapdragon and Exynos 8895 830, as usual, it depends on the region of issue, 6 or 8 GB of RAM. Also mentioned support for NFC with the MST for the payment service, Samsung Pay. The announcement is expected on 26 February and released in March 2016, expected price — 885 U.S. dollars.
