Introduction
Samsung Galaxy J5 – it is one of two new smartphones from the company (a second – is J7), which will be offered for the budget segment , replacing an E-series in terms of price and quality. Among themselves phones are not much different, except for the screen size. Compare them makes no sense. But as competitors they see Moto G and intend to oust him from the market. Will it? Let’s see.
Samsung Galaxy J5 at first sight:
– 5-inch Super-AMOLED-display with a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels;
– Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 410;
– 1,5 GB of RAM;
– 8 GB with the use of an additional card MicroSD;
– 13 megapixel main camera with LED flash and video recording in 1080p;
– 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and video recording in 1080p;
– Wi-Fi 802.11b / G / N, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, 4G LTE;
– support for two SIM-cards;
– FM-radio;
– replacement battery on 2600 mAh;
– Soft Android-5.1.1 lollipop.
So, the phone is well equipped for the budget segment, and it is difficult to say about his shortcomings. At first glance they do not catch the eye.
Design and iron
Looking for Galaxy J5, can be said that it is similar to other phones Samsung , since in 2013 the classic design of medium- and low-end phone companies do not actually changed.
On the front panel of the device is 5-inch display with a resolution of 720p. Above the display is the speaker next to the front camera, there is also the proximity sensor. By the way, J5 has no light sensor for automatic brightness control of the display. And there is also no of LED-backlighting for touch keys, which are located below the display.
The phone itself though looks metallic, it is only a camouflage chrome. It is plastic, easily collect fingerprints, even by itself a little sticky.
On the right side is the power button on the left – the volume controls. By the buttons themselves have no complaints – provide good feedback. At the bottom of the phone is the port MicroUSB, earphone jack and the main microphone.
On the back we find the main camera 13 megapixels. With a LED flash and a speaker series. The camera lens is slightly elevated, so as not to drown out the speaker even when the phone is on the back side.
The back cover is removed, and a removable battery, there are two slots for Micro-SIM-cards and a slot for Micro-SD-Card . The back cover comes off pretty easily and snaps back into place securely.
The build quality is the order of the device Samsung . Although the vast majority of plastic parts, there is a reliable phone. No squeaks when pressed. Although the body has no water and dust protection as a new Moto G .
The display has good viewing angles and good to read in the sun. The brightness level does not change automatically. But it can be changed manually. Another question – who needs it?
The smartphone offers an impressive lifespan for a removable battery 2600 mAh. Even with two SIM-cards in a row, you can say 5-6 hours, and if you use the telephone from time to time, it will total 20 hours of battery life. Dialing into the pocket of a few batteries, a week can not fit into the outlet.
But the phone is being charged for a long time. 1% to 100% – exactly three full hours with the standard charger 5V / 2A.
Galaxy J5 runs on Android 5.1.1 with the original shell TouchWiz from Samsung.
The user interface is similar to the one installed on new devices Galaxy S6. Double-clicking the Home, you can turn the camera on the move, but does not support voice commands or multi-mode, like champions. No corporate and music player from Samsung, replaced by an analogue of Google Play Music. But there is a radio.
The phone comes with a pale semblance of anti-virus and a lot of old games that are not even full versions and demos. But the interesting thing is that they can not be removed. The minimum number of standard applications is still present.
When testing the performance of Galaxy J5 is on par with other devices running the chipset Snapdragon 410. Only Moto G passes him a little bit because of the higher clock frequency. For budget-phone works well. The interface does not slow down.
First Impressions
Samsung Galaxy J5 – it’s a great budget phone. Samsung has made a good job of reducing components to achieve low prices, while not the main thing cleaned. Phone is well protected, reliable and works for a long time and steadily. The last good camera software and add positive impressions.
The new Moto G before it can boast only the presence of moisture protection and a slightly faster processor. And these are two different competitor without any disadvantages.
